All the timber we provide is THB structural grade green oak. Beams are suitable for use as oak cladding or in oak frames for garages, outbuildings, porches, garden rooms, pergolas as well as houses and house extensions.
Our trade oak posts and beams are suitable for internal or external structures and do not require any additional treatment.

Oak: some further information
Oak is a naturally strong hardwood and has excellent weatherproofing qualities. If used externally, oak beams will gradually weather to a silvery grey colour. This is a natural process, which hardens the surface of the oak and helps it withstand even the most inhospitable weather conditions.
When used internally, oak beams gradually loose their moisture through exposure to heating. Shrinkage and the development of cracks known as "shakes" are perfectly natural. In the first two years after installation, a structural oak beam typically shrinks about 5-10% in width (only cross the grain, never along it). As a result cracks will develop, which have no effect on its structural integrity, but do add to its character.
